Interview Outline - School

Here are sample questions to ask your parent or grandparent.

  • Where did you go to high school?

    • How was that high school similar or different than the one that I went to?  Bigger or smaller? 

    • How did you end up going to that school instead of another?

    • Was your school single-sex or co-ed?

    • What subjects did you study at high school?

      • Did you study English?

    • What sports did you play?

    • Who were your friends in high school?

      • Do you still keep in touch with some of them?

  • What college did you go to?

    • How was that college similar or different than the one that I went to?  Bigger or smaller? 

    • How did you end up going to that college instead of another?

    • How was the college-admissions process similar or different from what I went through?  Was it more or less stressful than what we do in the United States?

    • What classes did you take in college?  What was your major or concentration?  Why did you select that major or concentration? 

    • Who were your friends in college? 

    • Do you still keep in touch with some of them?

    • Were you involved in politics in college? 

  • Post-graduate election

    • Why did you get or not get further schooling past college?

    • If you got further schooling, why and how did you do that?
